The West Bayfront neighborhoods are central to Erie’s business district and educational centers, and provide easy access to Erie’s vibrant cultural and recreational life. Major employers including UPMC Hamot and Erie Insurance are within walking distance, and Gannon University anchors the community on its eastern border. Travel to other parts of the region is easy thanks to access to I-79.

Community is prioritized in the West Bayfront. Several annual events draw neighbors in to have fun and socialize for different causes, six neighborhood watch groups help ensure safety, and volunteers rally to ensure the success of events and keep the neighborhood clean.

Schools, Parks, and Community Amenities

West Bayfront is a great place for the whole family with local schools, parks, and community amenities. Schools in the area include Patrick J. DiPaolo Student Success Center at Emerson-Gridley, Strong Vincent Middle School, Luther Memorial Academy, Cathedral Preparatory School, Erie Rise Leadership Academy Charter School, and Gannon University. These schools are United Way Community Schools which provide additional support to students and families.

Bayview Park located on Cherry and 2nd Street includes a fun splash pad, an iconic Erie sign, and a beautiful view of the waterfront. Gridley Park is a central location for many community events and gatherings. Other local parks feature beautiful artwork and walking paths.

The Martin Luther King Memorial Center and Our West Bayfront both include valuable educational resources, supportive services, host community-wide events, and help support the growth and improvement of the entire community.

The Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance provides tax abatement programs for those who revitalize or repair properties.
